While 20% of your mark is determined by your Stock Market Portfolio, the other 10% will be determined by a Course Culminating Test. The test has 2 parts.
Part 1: Essay Style Question: Together we will watch the films Inside Job and the film In Time, which are available on YouTube at this link and posted on our website under Unit 4.1. We will be watching the film in class though. There will also be a 3rd question on Poverty. You will get all 3 questions in class in and around the 15th of June and of those 3 questions, 2 will be on the test; you will have to write an essay on 1 of the 2. The essay will require you to use knowledge from throughout the course, but focusing specifically on Macroeconomics (Unit 4) as well as some aspects of Units 2 and 3 to provide your detailed commentary on the themes of the movies and causes/affects/ and ways to solve poverty/macroeconomic issues. (3 Knowledge, 6 Analysis, 6 Application)
You will be given 3 questions to prepare for the exam. 2 of the questions will be on the the exam. You will answer 1 in a 5 paragraph essay that Applies Economic Concepts you have learned in the course.
Part 2: Course Reflection. The purpose of economics is for you to be able to see the world from a different perspective and to analyze people's actions. Thus your reflection questions (there are 2) not only focus on your learning, but also focus on how you see the world today (inflation, covid, supply and demand, jobs, minimum wage and more). You will reflect in 1 - 2 pages single - spaced on your learning from the course, by following a guided question. (10 Application & 5 Marks Knowledge)
- Make connections to society when explaining your concepts.
- Demonstrate an ability to see society from the perspective of an economist.
Part 3: Communication. Holistically I will evaluate your ability to communicate economic concepts throughout the test. This will involve your writing, spelling, grammar, paragraph and essay structure. Also, it will involve your ability to communicate so the reader/I can understand your discussion of economic concepts.
Remember things we have talked about in Macroeconomics and how they affect society currently.
